About Us
We are a team of students from different courses of study at the TU Berlin. Together we are building a boat based on sustainable propulsion methods. With this boat, we would like to participate in the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge in July 2023.

IT
The IT team is responsible for the information technology networking of the project. In addition to setting up a data infrastructure for protected mail traffic and a website, we are designing a Race Management System (RMS), which will record various parameters of the boat using versatile sensors. To ensure that a maximum output of electrical energy to the motor is not exceeded, we want to implement a range analysis in the RMS, among other things. This recommends how much power is output for the expected remaining range. All the information will be available in real time in the cockpit and at the command post.

Propulsion
In the propulsion team, we make sure that the boat can pick up speed. Good communication and cooperation with the other teams is particularly important here. Together with Team Construction, for example, we work on the maneuverability of the boat. In order to remain competitive in all three competitions, we are constantly faced with new challenges and have to make many trade-offs. For example, improving the maximum speed of the boat may result in a shorter range for the same amount of energy. In order for us to achieve the highest efficiency, it is also particularly important to design the motor and propeller to match each other.

Energy
Team Energy has a crucial role in the design of the boat. The energy system is the heart of the boat. It is worked closely with the other teams to get the best possible performance and functionality from all the components. The various components, such as the battery, the photovoltaic system or the electronics must not only be optimized for performance, but also designed to be as light as possible in order to cope optimally with the three challenges of the MEBC. In addition, all parts must comply with the MEBC regulations, which is an additional challenge in the development and design.

Management
Since 2021, WannSea has been a passionate project of Riccardo Petschke, the founder and idea generator. Then, in April 2022, more than 30 motivated students came together for the first time, thanks to which the project gained momentum! Trying to give the project a start-up-like character, Riccardo takes care of the general organization and management within the team. He leads the weekly team meetings as a tutor and brings the students together through team building events.

Our Boat
The 3D model is deliberately faulty. The motor, the propeller, the entire interior construction and many other details are missing that we DO NOT WANT TO PUBLISH (yet) PUBLICLY. With this boat we want to enter a competition, AND WIN! If we were to freely publish all our ideas here on the website, our opponents would be able to copy some of them too easily...
Because one thing is for sure - our boat will be different from all those that have competed in Monaco so far!
Sustainability has rarely been a discussed factor in boatbuilding. We want to change that! The boat with which we want to participate in the MEBC Regatta in Monaco in July 2023, will be build by us students as environmentally conscious as possible here at the TU Berlin. For example, with recycled and alternative building materials, such as natural fibers, ecological fiber composites, etc. The advantage of this is a ship that will be definitely lighter! But to win you also need speed and maneuverability. We achieve this through our unique propulsion concept, an efficient electric motor with a propeller specially designed for the boat. Energy from our hydrogen fuel cells and 3sqm solar panels. All this controllable with the latest electronics and sensors.
Simply put - Our boat is powered by 100% renewable energy!

Monaco Energy Boat Challenge: 3rd - 8th of July
The tenth Monaco Energy Boat Challenge will take place in July 2023. We want to be the first German team to take part in the Energy Class. In the competition, our boat will have to prove itself in the disciplines of endurance, speed and maneuverability.

Testing and logistics concept
The boat is scheduled to be launched in Wannsee in May 2023. Afterwards, the boat will be tested extensively in the trial phase. This is especially important for the pilot, who has to get used to the steering of the boat. At the end of June we plan to transport the boat to the South of France, if possible by electric car and trailer.

Building the boat
In this phase, we will work on the construction of the boat's hull, as well as its power generation and propulsion systems. Here we will also work a lot in and with workshops of individual disciplines. The goal is for the boat to be ready for competition by the end of March 2023.
