About Us
We are a team of students from different courses of study at the TU Berlin. Together we are building a boat based on sustainable propulsion methods. With this boat, we would like to participate in the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge in July 2023.

"Climate Change- A Race We Must Win"!

"Ocean-going ships emit large amounts of sulfur oxides, particulate matter, nitrogen oxides and soot. These substances are highly toxic and harm both the environment and human health. Nitrogen oxides (as precursors of ground-level ozone) and soot also contribute significantly to climate change; soot is even recognized as the second strongest climate driver after CO2. Moreover, in Europe alone, about 50,000 people die prematurely each year from the effects of shipping emissions." (NABU)

We need your support! Everyone can help us with a donation to make WannSea sustainably effective and thus come a little closer to our vision of a "better world". The more successful our project becomes, the more we can change!

Our Boat
more info on this 3D model
The 3D model is deliberately faulty. The motor, the propeller, the entire interior construction and many other details are missing that we DO NOT WANT TO PUBLISH (yet) PUBLICLY. With this boat we want to enter a competition, AND WIN! If we were to freely publish all our ideas here on the website, our opponents would be able to copy some of them too easily...
Because one thing is for sure - our boat will be different from all those that have competed in Monaco so far!
Sustainability has rarely been a discussed factor in boatbuilding. We want to change that! The boat with which we want to participate in the MEBC Regatta in Monaco in July 2023, will be build by us students as environmentally conscious as possible here at the TU Berlin. For example, with recycled and alternative building materials, such as natural fibers, ecological fiber composites, etc. The advantage of this is a ship that will be definitely lighter! But to win you also need speed and maneuverability. We achieve this through our unique propulsion concept, an efficient electric motor with a propeller specially designed for the boat. Energy from our hydrogen fuel cells and 3sqm solar panels. All this controllable with the latest electronics and sensors.
Simply put - Our boat is powered by 100% renewable energy!

Building the boat
In this phase, we will work on the construction of the boat's hull, as well as its power generation and propulsion systems. Here we will also work a lot in and with workshops of individual disciplines. The goal is for the boat to be ready for competition by the end of March 2023.

Testing and logistics concept
The boat is scheduled to be launched in Wannsee in May 2023. Afterwards, the boat will be tested extensively in the trial phase. This is especially important for the pilot, who has to get used to the steering of the boat. At the end of June we plan to transport the boat to the South of France, if possible by electric car and trailer.

Monaco Energy Boat Challenge: 3rd - 8th of July
The tenth Monaco Energy Boat Challenge will take place in July 2023. We want to be the first German team to take part in the Energy Class. In the competition, our boat will have to prove itself in the disciplines of endurance, speed and maneuverability.
